ASTRAL CIF Sequence Maps

The Protein Data Bank now provides CIF files produced by the pdb2cif program. These files include a mapping between the PDB-format records SEQRES (representing the sequence of the molecule used in an experiment) and ATOM (representing the atoms experimentally observed).

The ASTRAL CIF Sequence Maps extract the SEQRES <-> ATOM relationship and summarize it in tabular form.

Warning: as of ASTRAL 1.55, this format is now deprecated! We now provide files in a rapid-access format which is is is designed for efficient parsing and contains manual corrections for many errors in the CIF maps. We have not made these manual corrections in the CIF Sequence Maps. CIF Sequence Maps will no longer be provided in future versions of ASTRAL.

The columns of the Summary Table of the are:

  1. Entity name
  2. Chain name
  3. Entity monomer number (sequential SEQRES residue number)
  4. Monomer type
  5. Entity chain number (ATOM record residue number, with insertion code if provided)
